- Created a “Got Milk Mustache” picture (do you like mine with my own mom? Couldn’t get my mustache straight, but you get the drift!).
- Real Simple has a great collection of unique Mother’s Day gifts including “key lime pie pops and a collection of Mother’s Day poems & quotes to inspire your message.
- New book: My Parents Were Awesome. I’m presuming the title means “were awesome in raising me.” Love the sub-title: Before Fanny Packs and Minivans, They Were People Too. The book includes a special section where you can personalize with your favorite image of your parents and your own memories.
- Jewish Women International (JWI) is doing a wonderful community service project: the Mother’s Day Flower Project. Through this program, they send bouquets, stationery and beauty products, and an inspiring poster to 200 battered womens’ shelters.
Finally, we’re offering what was referred to as “the mother of all giveaways” – 7 different products with a total value of $300! We’ll draw a name at random from all of the comments to this post. Sounds great! Happy mother’s day!
Thanks for the comment! Happy Mother’s Day to you too!
Great ideas for gifts. Thanks for posting them
We webcam with my kids and my mom….my hubby and girls hopefully will remember breakfast in bed…and then dinner with MIL… and lots of homemade cards…the best present!
Every day should be Mothers day!!!!
Great way of incorporating technology into connecting on Mother’s Day — and I agree — my homemade cards are my greatest treasures!
Love all of the new ideas! We love to have the kids make their own personalized cards to give and they also send them to their grandparents. We also create cards and pictures on the ipad and email the pictures. This way we can save everything they do. Thank goodness for technology.
Great idea! Go tech! Thanks for sharing — love the idea of keeping the creativity “on file” – 🙂
I love the idea about the donation to the woman’s shelter for mother’s day. I have gone immediately to the site to make a donation. I’m so glad you wrote about it because I hadn’t heard anything about it. Wish they had gotten the word out more. But again, kudos to you for hearing about it and writing about it. These women in shelters need more mother-love than just about 99% of the women out there who are being taken out for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sunday. And trust me, I consider Mother’s Day as sacred as my birthday, but I would give it up to make a battered woman’s day 365 days of the year. Like you, “Mom-tini,” I support this cause 100%.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Thanks so much for such a great commentary on this cause — I agree — it really caught my eye too as a perfect partnership and a sobering way to remember women who don’t receive the pampering & love that so many of us do…
Every Mother’s Day for the past 9 years, my daughters have given me a video entitled “Why We Love Mommy,” starring the two of them. It is so wonderful to receive, hear their thoughts, take a closer look into their appreciation of me and all I do for them. I treasure the memories and look forward to receiving it each year. Happy Mother’s Day to each of you!!
The best gift to me is a homemade card from the kids. It means so much more to me than the commercial ones. My 7 year old made a coupon book for me. I already used one of the back rub ones!
Mother’s Day is also about being with our moms. We are lucky enough to be close to both my mom and my MIL. Having brunch and hanging out is the best way to spend Mother’s Day!
My mom doesn’t like it when we get her presents for Mother’s Day, because she doesn’t really buy into the “Hallmark Holiday” nature of it. So this year, I got her a ‘charity gift card’ which was worth a predetermined amount of money to be donated to the charity of her choice! She gave it to Susan G. Komen and thought it was one of the nicest gifts I’d ever given her.
That is the sweetest story — and I love it! Thanks so much for sharing — and for supporting a worthy cause in your mom’s honor! A double gift!
Just ordered My Parents Were Awesome, sounds like a good read! The subtitle is something I’ve been thinking about while going through recent relationship turbulence, my parents must have experienced a lot of the same stuff I’m going through!
How’s the “read” going? Hope you like the book! I haven’t read it yet – curious what you think?
Did you announce the winner of this giveaway?
Congratulations again! You were the winner chosen at random – please let me know when you receive your prize! And thanks again for your comment!
My friend referred me to your site, so I thought I’d check it out. Very interesting reading, will be back for more!
