I recently tried to take my own MomTini advice and shop early for school supplies.
Here are some more reminders as we coast into the final weeks of summer:
— > Reading/math requirements – are you done? If not, make a plan for completing in the next few weeks to avoid the pre-school crunch.
— > Gym Uniforms – need to buy?
–> Backpacks – how did yours hold up? I know we’re looking at some replacements here! They take a beating.
–> Consider the wear-out factor, and stock up. There are certain items which never make it through the year and are hard to replace mid-year. Consider multiples now while the getting is easy! Best example I can think of is those zippered binders that end up mangled, wrangled, and done by mid-year!
–> Start easing your way toward a back-to-school routine. It’s always hard to go from late nights to school lunches and more sleep. Ease your way toward September gradually.

Great tips, Amy! My son is really hard on backpacks and he’s had one that’s lasted 3 years (mind you, it’s got holes and tears, but still operable). This year I found the same backpack online and got a great deal and at least I know it’ll make it through one school year. I actually took measurements because in person they all look smaller with nothing in them.
