Supper Bowl – a Touchdown
Minutes before I headed out for the Super Bowl, I got an email about the “Supper Bowl” – perfect timing, and a great project I wanted to let you know about. Dream Dinners, a meal assembly franchise, hosted wives of NFL football players for a cooking competition. The ladies made more than 150 family meals for the Ronald McDonald House, and the winning wives received $15,000 to support their favorite children’s charities.
My son cooked some meals at the Ronald McDonald House – it’s such a great organization, and they provide housing and meals for families with children in nearby hospitals – truly a warm gift.
What a great combination of food, charity, and football fun! I asked their representative for some MomTini tips around the dinner hour — they directed me to their Facebook Fan page, full of conversation starters and other great side “dishes.” I especially liked their “Getting to the Table” tab tips including…
- Say no to distractions. Turn off the TV. Don’t answer the phone. Declare this time interruption-free.
- Say yes to each other. Make this a time for family. Let your family know that they are expected to show up, and that they are expected to eat together.
- Set the tone. Take pleasure in each other’s company. Give everyone a chance to talk, and then listen respectfully.

They just sent me a great video – showing some friendly competition between the NFC and AFC wives — very cute — wish my kitchen had such spirit!
